25th Annual Poetry Fest
Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Poets & Patrons will be one of seven vendors at the upcoming Chicago Public Library’s 25th Annual Poetry Fest on Saturday, April 27 at the Harold Washington Library. The Fest is a day of free poetry events to help celebrate National Poetry Month!
Poets & Patrons will host a table at the Fest where visitors can get more information on the organization and purchase poetry books written by our members.
Poets & Patrons is also sponsoring a workshop at 1 p.m.
Recharge Your Poetry by Cynthia Gallaher
Discover new ways to generate ideas for poems, recharge your work, and find your voice as a poet. Join poet Cynthia Gallaher on this one-hour exploration of ways to write poems using visual prompts and personal preferences as creative springboards. You will leave completing two drafts of poems.
Cynthia Gallaher is a Chicago-based poet and author of four poetry collections, including Epicurean Ecstasy: More Poems About Food, Drink, Herbs and Spices, and three chapbooks, including Drenched. Her award- winning nonfiction/memoir/creativity guide is Frugal Poets’ Guide to Life: How to Live a Poetic Life, Even If You Aren’t a Poet.
The Fest also features a keynote address by the 24th Poet Laureate of the United States, Ada Limón, who will give a talk at 2 p.m. as part of the Voices for Justice series.
